Artist Statement
Abstraction from the human figure has been a consistent theme in my work. Through my sculptural practice I distill the experience of the process, and make physical a narrative.
An early fascination with line and form through dance was embodied in wheel-thrown functional cylinders, vases and bowls, which were altered into more sculptural shapes. These abstract, reduced forms were reminiscent of the human figure. Since moving to the UK in 1999, I have concentrated on abstract figuration, and site-specific installations.
